“Blessed be the God and Father of our LORD Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” (2Corinthians 1:3-4).

Among the needs of man today, Comfort should be paramount! It is therefore time to borrow a leaf from the Psalmist and declare thus: “Thou shall comfort me on every side” (Psalm71:21). To comfort is to give solace or to soothe. Thus, alleviate and enable one to bid pain, anguish, sorrow, sadness, and other ugly situations farewell. Everyone desires this state especially after the gory and sorry tales of the Year past. Year 2020 just like an earthquake may have come and gone but its aftereffects, are far from over.

There was something about Year 2020! So many plans were marshalled out! Great dreams were had! Inspirations and aspirations were heightened! However, suddenly everything came crumbling. Lives were lost. Jobs gone. Givers became beggars. The superpowers became powerless. Nations closed their borders and preferred to be independent. One African president was quoted as having said that the great and the little, big and small have all become equal. For the very first time, that assertion was correct. It is interesting to note that many are afraid of having dreams and visions for this Year. It is so because no one knows when there would be light in the tunnel.

There is still anguish. There is fear. It would not be out of order to add that confusion hangs in the air. For the first time in recent times, man has been brought to the knowledge of the fact that Someone indeed rules in the affairs of men (Daniel4:17). Whether man likes it or not; accepts it or not, God works behind the scene! The Scripture in agreement says: “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that will prevail” (Proverbs19:21). He is the Almighty and could use whatever measure He deems necessary, to register His influence. The events of the Year 2020 have indeed brought an awakening!

It is on this note that man should aspire, thirst and hunger for comfort. The needed comfort would come from God unto man who in-turn must transmit it further, to fellow man. Man, on his own hasn’t been able to comfort himself how much less fellow man. A proof of this would be had if, what happened in third world countries during the pandemic is put into considerations. Though developed countries were able to put up some measures, they could not stop job losses. They could not as well checkmate the struggling Economies. What about the bail outs that have not been able to eradicate the troubled situations in the world! These and lots more point clearly to man’s limited abilities to comfort himself. Man, therefore, needs comfort from the “GOD OF ALL COMFORT.” He is the Only Who can comfort man andempower man to comfort fellow man. It is time for man to seek his Maker.

As never before, this Year man should drop pride and arrogance. To those claiming atheism, let there be a rethink. The reality should dawn on all who believed that evolution did this or that. It is time to embrace humility and turn to the Possessor of the Heavens and the Earth and cry out thus to Him: “Oh LORD our God, come to our aid and support and let humanity see Your face again as You show:

C: care and concern,
O: overturn every pronouncement,
M: mediate in all that pertains to man,
F: forgive all our sins and
O: order, for Your Name Sake
R: restoration
T: this Year

These and more, we ask and receive through Christ Jesus our LORD and Savior, Amen.

To all who would avail themselves and seek God this Year, there would be comfort. Remember always that God is bound by His Word. He says in His Word that He is watching His Word to perform it (Jeremiah1:12). The Almighty God seeks one man who would stand in the gap (Ezekiel 22:30). The result of the moves of God this Year, would be amazing if He happens, to have many men who would make themselves willing vessels. Will you be among those? Then know that you have placed yourself on the pole position ready, for the signal to be given for the2021 RACE to begin. Guess what! None other, but you are the favorite to life the trophy.

Notice the fact that the word comfort appears 3 times in our Golden Text for the Year. It is not for its fun nor is it a coincidence. Interestingly, comfort is a 7 lettered word. The figure seven raised to the power of three gives the number of this Year. That is to say: 7 x 3 = 21. Wow! It goes then without saying, that for each quarter of this Year, comfort has been released. To our Heavenly Father Alone be all the Glory. Comfort will be your portion this Year, in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. If you believe, let your Believer’s Amen sound like thunder.

A Holy Ghost warning: This should not be a Year of selfishness. God is not interested in dealing with people who are only concerned about just themselves or by extension only their families. He is looking for people He can entrust with Divine Possessions who, would transmit it further. This is, why His Word says: “that we may comfort those who are in any trouble” (2Corinthians 1:4). One cannot give what one does not have! As such one more time, receive from the throne of God’s Grace this Year, Comfort so that you will comfort those who themselves, are troubled in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.

Child of God brace up. Refuse to treat this Year as unto the Years past! It is a new dawn and the LORD your God is in the business of doing New things (Isaiah43:19). You will not only see those NEW THINGS which your Heavenly Father has begun doing this Year, but you will as well eat of them by the Authority in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Whatever you set out to do this Year, make sure that you involve the ALPHA and OMEGA from its beginning, and you will never regret that you did.

Bible reading for today

Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.
